Dash Module #1 (Product Code DM1)





DM1 Overview

Dash Module #1 (or "DM1") is Knights of England's name for the left-most section of the season 3/4 dash. Also known as the "Compass Display", this module comprises the following:

Direction information is determined by means of six ground-switched discrete inputs. The inputs comprise two "quadrant select" bits (designated N/S and E/W), which determine the heading into one of four quadrants (NE, SE, SW or NW) and four "sector select" bits, (designated A, B, C and D), which determine one of ten sectors within the selected quadrant.

  • This pin was not connected on DM1 hardware versions earlier than 7.3
  • CSM versions earlier than 2.X did not support a regulated 5V supply on pin 8 but had their own on-board regulator.

DM1 Build Options

This module may be built using 40 individual LEDs for the 10-element bar graph displays (referred to as the "standard build") or using four 10-element LED array devices (referred to as the "alternate build"). Earlier versions were manufactured using plastic bezels surrounding the arrowhead indicators, authentic to the TV car, but these are no longer available. We would be interested in hearing from anyone who can source these components (Agilent Technologies part number HLMP-2899). There are many suppliers online claiming to have stock but to date none has been able to deliver.
